Arnold Rowntree was a director of Rowntrees confectioners, Associated Newspapers, Westminster Press and many other publications. He was one of the original directors of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, from 1904 to 1951, and the Chair of the trust 1925–1938.
J.B. Morrell was also a director of Rowntrees Cocoa, twice Lord Mayor of York. Also a director of several newspaper companies.
