USA: Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad Co., $5000 prior lien 3 1/2% gold bond, 1900, steam engine facing at left, ornate border, red and black, hole cancelled, GVF.
Originated with the Toledo, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad formed in February 1881 (a consolidation of several smaller lines) connecting the cities. Following financial difficulties, the company dropped its Cincinnati branch and reorganized in June 1886 as the Toledo, St. Louis and Kansas City Railroad. The Toledo, St. Louis and Kansas City was reorganized in 1900 and renamed as the Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad. It operated 450.72 miles of line between Toledo and East St. Louis. ‘The Clover Leaf’ as it was known, became part of the larger New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad.
