Founded in 1884 as the Rauch & Lang Carriage Company. The move to automobiles (more specifically electric passenger cars) came in 1903 and the company as it was, was bought by the Stevens-Duryea Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts in 1920 and re-organised as Rauch & Lang Incorporated. From then on R&L’s main business was taxi cabs, but the company fell into financial difficulty by 1924 and struggled on until 1932.
