Hull Flax & Cotton Mill Co., £50 share, 18[46], scrollwork at left, waxed paper, extremely fine.   The company was formed in 1836 by Joseph Rylands. He had retired from  Rylands & Sons, the successful Manchester cotton manufacturing company he ran with his father and 2 younger brothers. This company became the first successful joint-stock company in the industry.
