Colchester. Daniell & Sons’ Breweries Ltd., £100 debenture, 1893, cancelled, GVF. The right edge is a little uneven due to the coupons being cut from this side. These were issued in replacement of the £1000 debentures issued in 1887. The balance of the £1000 debentures were replaced by another tranche of £100 debentures similar to these but dated 1892. Owned the Castle Brewery, founded 1866. The company was registered in 1887 to amalgamate Thomas Daniell & Sons of West Bergholt and Daniell Brothers of Colchester. Castle Brewery closed by March 1892 and the company was acquired by Trumans in 1958
