The Albemarle Club, originally in Albemarle Street, London, but moving to Dover Street in 1909, was the scene of the famous incident where the Marquess of Queensbury left a calling card for Oscar Wilde calling him a sodomite. This led to the famous trial for libel and Wildes subsequent criminal prosecution. The Albemarle Club is now back in Albemarle Street and is an adult entertainment venue.
