Founded by Howard Carpenter Marmon in 1851, the ‘experimental’ manufacture of automobiles only began in 1902. The Marmon name is credited with having introduced the rear-view mirror, as well as pioneering the V16 engine and the use of aluminium in automobile manufacturing.
